Whenever I’ve got a social event in the diary post work a very rare occasion or I’m out for the day at the weekend, I pack up my trusty makeup bag. A bag that holds the essentials, gets me from day through to night and is able to spruce up any patchy or oily areas that might decide to appear throughout the day. I like to keep a kit like this down to the essentials, I know realistically I’m not going to reapply my entire face whilst I’m out, however I’ve gotta have my ‘just in case products’. Ya know those moments when you just need to tweeze out an eyebrow hair or power down your t-zone, I’ve got you covered!
The first items that always get added to my makeup bag is my powder & brush dream team. No surprises here, it’s the Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder with my retractable Sephora Kabuki Brush. Honestly. Nothing works better! To keep that glow post powder the Soap & Glory Solar Powder offers up that two toned option to sculpt back in your killer cheekbones or add a sun kissed glow to your temples. I love keeping the RMS Living Luminizer on hand to give the most natural yet gorgeous glow to my cheeks. It looks amazing layered on top of makeup or even worn alone & applied with your fingers it catches the light to give that subtle sheen & glow.
In terms of concealer I make sure not to grab anything that’s going to stick or cake to makeup already applied. Recently I’ve fallen back in love with my Charlotte Tilbury Retoucher Concealer as it provides coverage without sitting heavy on the skin. A non clumping mascara is also essential to add that va va voom back to your lashes without the thick hold. At the moment my fave is the Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Mascara*.
Naturally some tools are required. A roll on perfume to add a spot of fragrance especially post tube journey alongside some tweezers in case a stray hair gets loose, damn those stray hairs! I also throw in my Real Techniques Setting Brush as that, alongside the kabuki, means I’ve got all my makeup application covered.
