I had a little accident when I went to Selfridges on Friday. I’m not talking about the multiple glasses of sancerre that accidentally slipped into my glass nor the battered fish & chips that ended up on my plate, instead I’m talking about the haul that happened as soon as my eye glanced across the NYX counter. I’ve gotta admit the visit was short and sweet, the stand was a buzz with people swatching away and quite literally grabbing everything & anything they could get their hands on. I didn’t have a particular product in mind and considering I was only able to merely see the products across someones shoulder I did pretty good to pickup what I did.
Starting with a Butter Gloss in the shade Creme Brûlée. Here you get a very light was of colour that leaves a glossy pigment behind. Expect a little bit of stick here, especially as these only cost £5, however with that you still get decent longevity. In the photo I’ve worn this directly on the lips, no liner or lippy below to show the true colour however day to day I would recommend pairing this with your fave everyday nude to give a little bit more colour to the lips.
Next up are the Soft Matte Lip Creams and this is where the real fun starts. The only swatch I managed to get was of Athens and this instantly got added to my basked. In hindsight I would say this sits a tad on the coral side for my liking I was expecting more brown & nude undertones however I am expecting good things if paired with the likes of MAC’s lipliner in Soar. My final pick is whats stole my heart and that is the shade Cannes.
I actually saw a girl on the counter giving this a swatch & as soon as she read out the name to her friend I picked one up. This is my fave lip colour down to a tee. Darker, with hints of purple & berry undertones that give shape and definition to the lips. Formula wise this verge on the edge of dry however all can be forgiven for their fab price point. Needless to say I already want more and fear the day I next step foot inside Selfridges.
