Ah highlighters – that gorgeous step within your makeup routine that can instantly add light, luminosity and radiance to your skin however on a daily basis it’s a step I tend to miss. Why I hear you ask? Faff. Once you’ve gone through your bronzer, contour & blush stages there isn’t always the time to pick out a highlighter for those final touches. Luckily for us timed crunched morning people there is the world of stick based highlighters. Not only does this make application a breeze, it gives a variety of formulas & colours that work for any occasion. If you are looking to add a stick based highlighter to the club, check out my faves below:
Budget – in a recent Boots haul I nabbed the new Collection Speedy Highlighter in the shade Pear Sheen. In the exact same style as it’s Clinique Chubby counterpart, you get that twist up product delivering an iced golden highlight that can be applied to your cheekbones, nose & cupids bow. For a drugstore item you would expect this to move & disturb any makeup underneath but luckily Collection have the formula on point meaning it gives that golden sheen without any makeup touchups required.
Iced – the original chubby sticked highlighter comes from Clinique in the form of their Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight*. This is the most iced up of the lot giving a very cool toned finish with a subtle pinky sheen running underneath. As you can see from the flat shaped top this is one of my most used highlighters. I love the iced finish it gives making it perfect for when you want a less intense pop of colour.
Golden – when you are giving those golden goddesses a run for their money you need the Benefit Watts Up Highlighter. Providing a more warm toned finish this gives depth to your complexion alongside lifting the areas of your face where it’s applied. A little goes a long way here and although the packaging is a little bit brash, you do get a sponge built in which is perfect for blending whilst on the go.
Multi Use – now technically, this isn’t a highlighter however thanks to it’s multi purpose colour you can get away with dabbing this onto your cheeks, lips or brow bone. The Charlotte Tilbury Beach Stick in Moon Beach* gives a warm golden peach pop of colour that can be blended out along the cheekbone to lift any complexion. What I like to do is apply the product directly to the back of my hand, warm up with my fingers and then dab onto the areas of my face where I’m looking for a hit of golden colour.
What are your favourite highlighters to reach for? Are you a fan of the stick formulas?
