We all know I’m a fan of a dark berry lip. Bring me a wine coloured lippy, the darker the better and I’m good to go! Although I wish I could rock a purple hue on the daily believe me I would if I didn’t get so many strange looks at work sometimes you need to reach for that stash of barely there lipsticks. You know the ones that you can apply without a mirror, feels like a lip balm when applied yet leaves a soft and subtle hue once applied. I call these the group of lipsticks that ‘always end up at the bottom of my bag aka are thrown in at the last minute for all those just in case moments’. Sound familiar? ;) Heres a rundown of my faves…
The queen of a barely there lip is Clarins. With their widely popular Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors which I adore in the shade 02 you get that perfect balm/gloss hybrid that doesn’t leave your lips a sticky mess post application. They smell and taste pretty darn great and now come in over 6 different shades. Following in their success came the Instant Light Lip Balm Perfectors. Here you get a more traditional stick applicator with a balmy product inside that feels nourishing and hydrating to apply. The shade 01 Rose* is a beautiful soft pink that gives a subtle kiss of colour that suites a multitude of skin tones.
Up on the higher end of the price spectrum is the Marc Jacobs New Nudes Sheer Lip Gel in 108 Have We Met? I’ve gotta say this is my all-time favourite. The only reason I don’t wear it and mention it in every post/video is because I’m already half way down the bullet, the love is real here people! Compared to the Clarins Balm Perfector the consistency is more waxy however this works to give a dose more colour. It still doesn’t sit heavy on the lips and can be applied without a mirror throughout the day.
Finally if you want to add a gloss to those barley there lips I recommend the Bourjois Intense Shine Lipgloss in 02 Rosé on the Rocks. Now although the colour looks more vampy compared to the rest of the line up, the super wet and shine inducing formula gives a natural wash of colour. This has been paired with a dark lip in the past which has cause the original colour to darken however throughout the summer of ’15 I wore this on the daily to give a boost of natural shine to my lips that gave a flattering glossed up look.
