I went there. I went down the rabbit hole, across the point of no return and bought myself the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit. But it’s okay – it’s all for my upcoming Christmas Gift Guide ;) You see it would be rude not to pickup one of the most highly anticipated and coveted palettes to be released around this festive season, I just had to cover my eyes and blindly enter my payment details to avoid the horrendous cost of £65. Thank you SpaceNK Ndulge card with your sweet £5 off! Christmas Gift Guide aside, I wanted this palette. I was sucked in by the 6 inviting powders all promising to preen my skin into a glowing piece of perfection. No rhyme nor reason could stop me from picking this up and adding it to my already impressive collection of the Ambient Lighting Palette and Ambient Blush Palette. #Whoops

Let’s get down to the nitty gritty – what’s inside? Power wise there is the Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light (available in the powder palette), Iridescent Light (new) and Diffused Light. Blush wise you get the Ambient Lighting Blush in Mood Exposure & Luminous Flush (both available in the blush palette however it’s limited edition and less widely available now). Finally there is Luminous Bronze Light, one of Hourglasses latest powder releases. If you are one of those people who already own the power & blush palette, three of these six shades are within your collection already.

Aside from weighing up the shade selection, we need to talk size. You see if you’ve already seen reviews online about this palette you will have see it’s size, therefore the price, come heavily into question. As a guide in the lighting & blush palette you get 0.33oz of product for around £56 however in the edit you get 0.29oz for £65. The pans are also tiny resulting in a struggle to get your average blush brush to fit. When it arrived on the doorstep I had my initial ‘omgggg new makeup, come to me, I will love you forever you beautiful thing, get on my face but please always look so perfect’ but as soon as I opened it I couldn’t help but feel a tad disappointed by the size.

So is it worth it? If you are an avid Hourglass fan, adore the products and often hit pan or want to try something new, yes. Also I find this palette would be perfect for someone who travels, you have everything you need powder wise in one small easy to pack palette. Although it is an item of luxury, no not everyone needs it and honestly it isn’t great value for money. But it is damn beautiful? Yes, and you can’t deny that anyone will swoon to receive this come Christmas Day.
