On Monday, for a celebratory birthday lunch, my parents and myself got glammed up for lunch over at the Sky Gardens. A new favourite within the city of London, an indoor jungle oasis has been created over on the 35 floor. With incredible views out over the capital I was looking forward to spending a special meal whilst looking out over my favourite city.
When it came to travel we didn’t do things by halves, booking a car* with Blacklane meant we had the most fuss free and relaxed experience. Our black Mercedes was waiting outside ready to drive us along the river to our reservation and they were there to pick us up after the meal when it was time to retreat back home. This is the same service I used last year for my birthday and I highly recommend it. Great value for money where you have the freedom to select the time, location and car you want to travel in via their website or app. Especially on special days like birthdays it’s a real treat to remove the stresses of London transport resulting in a relaxing day from start to finish.
Once we arrived at our destination it was time to head upstairs, sit back in our seats whilst perusing the delights the menu had to offer. Our reservation was at the Darwin Brasserie, the perfect mix between luxury & classic British dishes, with items such as fish & chips and pulled pork burger on the menu we felt right at home. Not only that, the food itself was impeccable. I mean hello, lightly battered cod with triple cooked chips – perfection! My mum opted for salmon, dad the burger and at the end there wasn’t a crumb left in sight.
Knew we wanted to save some room for a sweet treat we opted for a desert over starters. Here we pushed the boat out. My dad indulged in a chocolate and orange square whilst mum picked a flavoursome rice pudding. I had coconut panna cotta that was brought over with a lit candle and birthday message. Was a nice surprise! Overall we had a fab time, ate some incredible food that was topped off by the fantastic sights.
