When it comes to lips choices, I can easily get stuck in a rut. Reaching for the same colours day in and day out, sometimes it takes a change in season to kickstart a colour revival. As soon as the sunshine peaks through those clouds you will see me rifling through my collection in a mission to hunt down the bolds, the brights and the corals to pop in my handbag and swipe onto my lips. Reaching for the glosses say whaaaat and those shades that got banished when winter rolled into town, it’s all about a summer lip revival whilst we embrace the colour and pack on those lippies that hold a punch.
The Bold – this is the season to say hello to those bright shades you shun away when the sun isn’t out. For this it’s got to be the Estee Lauder Pure Colour Envy Shine in 320 Surreal Sun*. A gorgeously bright coral shade that is still moisturising on the lips, this has quickly become my go to summer staple for igniting some colour into my look that doesn’t require much maintenance throughout the day.
The Gloss – here I’ve got two options to switch between, the Maybelline Colour Elixir in 400 Alluring Coral and Bourjois Rouge Edition Aqua Laque in 02*. Maybelline gives you that bold colour but in a sightly more sheeny finish. Although glossy this doesn’t sit on your lips in a sticky mess that attaches itself to your hair in the wind. For a wetter look oer give the Bourjois offering a go. Patted into your lips this gives a gorgeous finish that has that twist of difference compared to an everyday nude.
The Everyday – if you want a shade to throw into your handbag and apply throughout the day, my new favourite is the MAC Peach Blossom Creamsheen lippy. I used this throughout the warmer months last year and again for this season it’s still a colour I’m gravitating towards. A pinky nude with a soft rose finish, it’s a semi sheer coverage that doesn’t cling to any dry patches.
What are your favourite lip colours to pop on during the warmer months?
