When it comes to our two main drugstore contenders in the UK, I’ve found myself being drawn to different stores throughout the ages. When I was a teenager first getting into makeup and a University student forever trying to buy makeup on a budget – I religiously shopped at Superdrug. As I started working full time and Boots became my local store, I transferred my loyalties and began racking up those points. After becoming a fan of their 3 for 2 offers, bonus point coupons and mix of luxury and budget brands in store, my days in Superdrug became less frequent.
That was until Superdrug rebranded and launched their new Health and Beautycard. A revamp of their style rewards systems, you can finally get those offers that you simply don’t at Boots. Have you been waiting to use your points online? The wait is over! Want to pay part points part cash? No problemo! Still want to earn points when paying with points – oh yes that mind boggling systems is also possible with this updated rewards system. Not only that, register online and you also get free standard delivery.
To put the new Health and Beautycard to the test I went on a bit of a shopping spree. Injecting a bit of life to my makeup kit I opted for some Springtime ready products. Wanting to try out a new primer I darted towards Rimmel Lasting Finish Primer* that promises to extend your makeup wear for up to eight hours. So far I’ve really enjoyed this lightweight textured primer and find it helps to keep my foundation around in the warmer weather. For base I got sucked into the hype around the L’Oréal Infallible 24 hr Foundation in 120 Vanille* I just had see what all the fuss was about! Although it’s received a lotta love in the beauty community, I wasn’t wowed. I didn’t find the longevity to be groundbreaking and the coverage sat on the heavy side for my liking.
A brand that I’ve never tried before but stood out to me from the beauty section was Makeup Revolution especially their Iconic 2 Eyeshadow Palette*. Boasting 12 shades for only £4 I am honestly blown away by this. From the pigmentation to the shade selection, it wins hands down for me and I’ve been reaching for it daily since picking it up. Finishing off with a marmite product it’s the Bourjois Rouge Edition Aqua Laque in 02 Rose on the Rocks*. Yes their super wet consistency isn’t to everyones liking, however I personally adore the colour and even the formula. I recommend blotting during the application process and find the finish to be a gorgeous wearable nude shade where the slightly wet looks makes a nice change for the Spring/Summer seasons.
Have you been into Superdrug recently? Make sure you pickup and register for one of their new loyalty scheme to collect up those points for every penny you spend.
