The Edit: Switching it Up for Autumn

With the changing of the seasons comes a switch up of your skincare stash, wardrobe staples and even the foods you eat. As we roll into Autumn the weather now calls for jumpers, home made soups and boots that prevent your footsies from getting soaked in the rain. Without consciously realising it, I’ve also been changing up my daily makeup essentials to suit the darker mornings and echo the more melancholy weather. Deep hues, berry shades and even a red toned blusher for the cheeks, all of these have been busted out in a bid to give more life and colour to my face and mask it’s current lackluster appearance. Alongside opting for a darker lip I’ve also got a few other seasonal appropriate tips up my sleeve that help the transition and prevent my skin from looking too grey and tired!

Lips

Sidestepping away from nudes, soft pinks and light glosses, Autumn is the time for everyone to embrace the matte bold look and pat on some intense colour to those lips. For a daily hit of colour I’ve been reaching for the Tarte LipSurgence Power Pigment in Flush which gives a wash of berry goodness. Foolproof to apply this can be used underneath a lipstick to add a more glossy finish or worn alone for a natural looking berry lip. If your wanting to pack on the colour, pickup the Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Icon. Not only does this last all day, the colour is super deep and looks great on any complexion.

Nails

To vamp up a standard manicure I’ve been opting for reds, dark purples and even the odd navy when I’m feeling adventurous ;) These new releases from Max Factor tick all the Autumnal boxes and come in a gel like formula making them more long lasting than your average polish. Called Gel Shine Lacquers the shade 60 Sheen Merlot* has quickly become my new go to varnish and although I would prefer a slightly wider brush (Essie has spoiled me), you do have nine great colours to choose from the collection with all, bar two shades, being seasonally appropriate.

Eyes

Starting with shadow I’ve been reaching for my Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick in Golden Bronze on an almost daily basis. Quick to apply on those dark and cold mornings you can sweep it across the lid, blend it out with a brush or your finger and you are left behind with a rich smokey eye that lasts throughout the day. To help mask the lack of sleep that happens with shorter nights, I’ve been trying out the new Vichy Idealia for Eye*. A tinted eye product to target tired eyes this hydrates the delicate area so it looks more supple and awake. The applicator is soft and enables you to effectively judge the amount of product you pop on. Anything to banish away those pesky bags ;)
