When it comes to high end nails varnishes I’ve dabbled with a few brands in the past but always find myself reverting back to my fail safe favourite, Essie. When forking out over £10 for a varnish you want to be sure that your money is being spent wisely, the site of a chipped manicure a mere two days later is not want you expect from the more luxe brands – Chanel I’m looking at you ;) Recently I’ve given the Lancome polishes a whirl and I have to admit, they exceeded my expectations. Gorgeous thick brushes that applied a super opaque layer of colour to your nails in one quick and easy application. The pigmentation is bright and colourful and I only popped on a second coat to strengthen the polish as opposed to masking any streaks.
Starting off with Rose Satin* I stepped out of my comfort zone and embraced the pink! I often steer away from these shades due to wishing to avoid the whole barbie manicure, however I’m glad I bit the bullet here and gave it a try. A super vibrant pink that looks really flattering on the nails, this is perfect for a warm summers day or as a pop of colour on a holiday pedicure. I was able to achieve a neat manicure and the polish glided onto my nail without any glopping or blobbing. Heading back towards my comfort zone I next tried this coral offering called Peach Mélodie*. In comparison to Rose Satin the colour payoff was slightly weaker, but still enough that you could get away with a single coat. A more orange red this works great any season and adds a hint of colour without being too overpowering.
To complete the manicure it’s time for a top coat and there is where the Cristal Quartz* polish comes into play. A fade-resistant nail polish this provides high shine and gloss whilst also extending the length of your manicure. Sporting the super thick brush too, application is a dream and it does help to keep those pesky chips at bay. Overall considering my initial hesitation with this range they have managed to turn the sceptic in me around. Already I’ve been eyeing up the other colours as anything that makes the manicure process quicker and easier is a win in my books!
