Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation in No 07 – £27
Another foundation review and another rave. The Illamasqua Skinbase Foundation has been in my collection for a fair while and it doesn’t receive enough praise or admiration here on the blog. It’s a staple foundation that I fall back on time and time again and I either wear it alone or mix in with another foundation to help colour match or achieve the finish and results I desire. Before the review begins I feel like I need to give a bit of a disclaimer, the above photos were taken on Sunday morning following the night of many shots (if you saw my latest MWIP you will understand what I am talking about!) Late night, heavy makeup and drinking results in a puffy blotchy face with some serious bags. Not the most desirable thing to share with you or try and photograph, but at least it helps to show the powers of this wonderful foundation.
I would say this is a medium coverage foundation that leaves a satin finish to your skin. It isn’t dewy however it still lets your skin breathe through and look natural. I apply this with either my RT Blending Brush or Beauty Blender and both give a flawless finish. Supposedly inspired by the Asian market and BB Creams this foundation is undetectable in an HD environment and doesn’t contain any SPF so you can avoid flashback face. Every time I use this foundation I am impressed with how my skin looks. Blemishes are covered, skin tone is more even and the colour match gives a hint of warmth to my skin without leaving a line around my neck. This has easily made the cut into one of my top five all time favourite foundations.
