Back in the day one of my first high end lipstick purchases came from luxury beauty house YSL. The Rouge Volupté Lipstick in the shade No 1 Nudge Beige became a bit of a blogger obsession with most beauty lovers back in 2011 picking up this coveted lippie. Rich in application, pinky nude in colour, it gave you those old school Kim KW lips. Over the years tastes have changed, formulas have evolved and it’s been a while since I’ve dabbled back in the YSL Lipstick world.
This all changed after a recent event over at The Arts Club where I spent the evening testing and trying a number of different YSL beauty offerings. Over at their lipstick station I gave an ombré lip a whirl using the Rouge Pur Couture Lipsticks in the shades 10 Beige Tribute & 70 Le Nu*. Not only are the colours utterly gorgeous, again they are rich and moisturising in application. It doesn’t make it the most long lasting formula wise but this can be forgiven for the fab shade range and chic gold packaging.
To get the look the darker of the two was first applied all over my lips followed by the more brighter shade which was applied directly to the centre of my lips. To complete the look the Dessin Des Lévres Lip Liner in the Shade 22* was used. Fancy name aside this is basically a highlighting pencil designed for your lips, a lip lighter that allows you to get that precision outline whilst enhancing the fullness and shape of your lips.
Since picking these up they haven’t left my handbag. The rich colour and ease in application makes them the perfect fuss free lippies to apply throughout the day. Colour wise Le Nu has to be my fave as those slightly purple undertones complement my complexion and give a little bit of ‘summin extra to an everyday nude lip.
Are you a fan of YSL lipsticks? Which shades are your faves?
