On Sunday I made the most of the waved congestion charge & unrestricted single yellows to head on over to Selfridges. If you’re an early bird it can be a rather peaceful drive into the city whilst most of the world is still snoozing and the streets are empty. Yes it means you might have to wander around until the shops fully open but in my eyes it’s worth it for the connivence. For this trip, not only did I have a couple of items on my agenda (mainly eyeing up potential new wallets) I also wanted to head to the new Hemsley & Hemsely cafe. Located in the heart of the body studio up on the third floor you walk pass a bevy of inspiring workout clothes en route #LeggingGoals. Alongside all the clothing goals you could dream of you also get a chilled out venue sporting a menu full of the classic Hemsely & Hemsely treats.
Luckily on our visit the area wasn’t too busy, a seat was found and we set up shop to pour over the menu. Not only are there a bountiful of options they range from snacks through to sweet treats, salads and even healthy twists on cocktails . My mum and I opted for two side dishes, one of cauliflower rice and one quinoa with butternut squash. Both were delicious, packed full of flavour and the perfect early afternoon treat. Not being able to resist a little something extra we also shared a slice of their carrot cake with live yoghurt and raw honey frosting.
The only negative was their drinks. Being brave (and slightly naive) both my mum and I went for a juice. Mum jumped straight in with the Hardcore Juice offering and I opted for something a bit safer with their cacao blend. In total we managed about 10 sips between the both of us, if you’re most accustomed to juices and more natural blends than I’m sure you would have devoured the lot however for a juice noob it was a lot to handle. Luckily the waitress was all too happy to hear our feedback and suggestion of taster sizes for those that want to try something new without embarking on the full size.
Overall I really enjoyed the food, atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. There are a number of items I want to head back and try next time with a possible legging purchase too ;)
