Why oh why has it taken me an eternity to jump on the NARS Lip Pencil band wagon? It’s as if the hype puts fear inside my wallet and I can’t quite manage to hand over the cash and take one home with me. Considering I’ve been so pants at taking the plunge the only way to right this wrong was by buying a box of five ;) Go big or go home as they say so go big I did by snapping up the NARS Digital World Lip Pencil Coffret. For a mere £32 you get five lip pencils all inside a white designed display case. Housed within you get three pencils in the satin formula and two in velvet matte formulation. Although they are slightly smaller then the originals you get plenty of product to try across a fab selection of shades.
Two nudes are ready for the taking with Torres Del Paine and Descanso. Starting with the peachy/orange nude, Torres Del Paine melts onto the lips to give a soft wash of colour and a slight sheen finish. Descanso is a more traditional peachy/pink nude and is one of those effortless shades that you can pop on without a mirror and a single worry. The final three are where we hit vampy town crossed with bold city. Sticking with the satin pencils you have Yu, a bright pink paradise. Being blue based in undertone this gives a kick of shocking pink that leans more towards the magenta spectrum and stands out from the crowd.
Crossing over to the velvet matte formulations and leaving the shine behind you have two offerings that know how to capture both ends of the bold red. For mattes they don’t adhere to any dry patches and are some of the longest lasting lip pencils I’ve ever tried. Iberico gives you straight up orange red and doesn’t mess around, surprisingly easy to wear this looks great when paired with a dramatic cat eye look. The cult classic comes from Cruella and is what I’ve got saved for Christmas Day, a rich red this holds its own for all the right reasons. Considering there isn’t a dud colour in the mix this set is well worth the pennies and makes a great addition to your lipstick collection.
