The Thirst Quenchers

Winter and my skin are not friends. Throughout the rest of the year, and the majority of my life, my skin has always fallen into the category of normal/combination. Once upon a time I used to do everything in my power to make my skin as matte as possible but now I’ve embraced the word dewy we have called halt on the battle and become friends. Just when I thought I had everything under control Winter came along, hit me in the face (quite literally thanks wind) and now I am struggling to contend with the development of dry patches which results in flaking makeup. Gross I know but unfortunately that is the best way to describe it. Previous Winter’s my skin has been able to hold it’s own and stand up to the dropping temperatures but this year it has given up and gone on hiatus to a place that is very dry and lacking in hydration.

To fix this problem I did what only I knew to do best, switch up my skincare routine. Gone was anything stripping or drying and instead I’ve upped the anti when it comes to creams and oils. The first switch up was incorporating the Yon-Ka Hydra N°1 Creme* into my morning routine. This gives me intense hydration to keep dryness at bay throughout the day. It’s a fairly thick cream which feels nourishing yet it doesn’t sit heavy underneath my makeup. With a pleasant smell and the addition of hayluronic acid you know you will be set. The next item is a newby and comes in the form of the Caudalie Vinosource SOS Thirst Quenching Serum. A much hyped and raved about product, I’ve been using this under my moisturiser night and day. I prefer it to every other hydration serum I’ve tried as it doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight or sticky. Perfect for dehydrated skin it helps to retain moisture whilst keeping everything look plump and happy.
