Bold lips – I blooming love them. There is something about these dark and glooming days that has me reaching for those deeper toned options and popping them onto my lips. The shades that have been adorning my lids reside in the natural and neutral category however, when it comes to my lips, all things bold start occurring. Putting on a slick of a powerhouse pink or taking the plunge with a matte deep berry can make all the difference to your makeup look. Drastic things can happen in this one swift movement. A bold lip can help to distract people from areas you might be trying to mask (hello pesky bags that refuse to leave my face!) and it is a quick and easy way of vamping up a normal everyday look. If you are afraid of experimenting, a bolder lip option is a great way of upping the game in the colour department.
Starting with the safer bracket, a bright pink is a great choice to begin bridging the gap from neutral to bold. My favourite is this Paul and Joe gloss in 09 Bougainvillea* that is part of their new beauté glossy lip colours. With a two sided applicator a flawless finish can be easily achieved. Taking things a step bolder, one of my all time top red shades is the Rimmel Kate Moss Matte Lipstick in 110. A bargain beauty that gives great colour without the hassle you can’t go wrong with this stunning staple shade. Another kick up the bold scale is a powerful coral red that packs a punch. Starting to work your way into the scary category of orange, the Clinique Cubby Stick Intense in Heftiest Hibiscus will have you shouting from the rooftops. Finally meet my new obsession in the form of the Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in Roundest Raspberry*. I never thought I would be quite so obsessed with a purple berry shade but considering this has become a handbag and daily essential, it shows it’s love.
A few key colour options and you will be embracing all things bold and beautiful in no time.
