Last Thursday something truly miraculous occurred. Hold onto your hats ladies and gentlemen for I had possibly the best visit to a hair salon that I have ever had in my twenty six (god I’m old!) years. Being the sceptic that I am I didn’t have a whole lotta hope for a fairly unassuming Aveda Salon in South West London. Being a stand alone business it can be easy to jump to conclusions and think that the lack of a big brand will causes certain aspects to fall by the wayside, quite the contrary on this account as instead it gives this booming business the chance to really spoil their cliental and give them a tailor made experience and service. I went to Edward James for a cut and blow dry with the talented and lovely stylist Ashley. As much as it was about the cut itself that impressed me, just you wait until you hear what happened first!
Sitting down in the salon chair I was offered magazines, water and a glass of bubbles, we were off to a good start. With a biscuit in my mouth one of the employees came over to begin the head, neck and should massage – oh yes you heard me right! After choosing from a couple of different Aveda oils the massage began and it was blissful. Think the head massage you get at the basin but elevate it by 100%. Once complete I then went over to get my hair washed. The most incredible scented Aveda products were used and to enhance my hair a nourishing treatment was applied. Whilst the treatment was taking effect I was offered a hand and arm massage as well, this is not something you turn down in a hurry. Understandably I jumped at the chance and whilst my head was wrapped in a warm towel the second massage began.
After all the massages were done and dusted *sob* it was onto the hair proportion of the evening. Ashely listened to what I wanted and offered suggestions as to which cuts would help me achieve the style I desired. Having fine and straight hair Ashley opted to forgo the layers and instead gave me a single length cut with a bit of shaping around the front. Instantly this style has made my hair feel thicker and fuller and throughout the day it doesn’t end up looking so straggly. Ashley took onboard my wishes from my hair and I am in love with the finished cut. The length in perfect and I find it holds a shape so much better then before. As you can see the Edward James salon has won me over, so much so I am going back tomorrow for a root touch up in-between colours.
