Nails Inc Gel Effect Polish in Porchester Square – £14
It’s been a long old time since I’ve talked about anything nails related here on the blog. For the past few weeks I have been going sans polish and letting my nails go bare. You would think this would be to allow my nails to breathe and grow naturally, but instead I was getting fed up with constantly reapplying polish and fixing chipped manicures. Instead I hung up my tools and let my nails go au natural. I was surprised at how much I liked my nails without polish and wondered whether I would ever be tempted back into the manicure pool. For longer then I expected I wasn’t and the only product that perked up my interest was this new release from Nails Inc.
Keeping up with the rest of the market Nails Inc released a range of Gel Effect Polishes that provide a high shine and super glossy finish. They even claim to ‘plump your nails’ which I quizzed the sales assistant about as I thought it was a bit of an absurd claim (apparently it just gives you that thicker salon UV look). The gel formulation contains a high level of solid pigments that help to give you a flawless application with no streaks. These polishes have a slightly wider brush (nothing that compares to the Essie Diffusion brushes mind you) but they do make application quicker and easier.
To test the range out I picked up a Gel Effect Polish in my all time favourite nude shade, Porchester Square. In comparison to the original I found the first coat to be more transparent and streaky, however with a second coat I achieved a pretty perfect opaque finish. The final colour, minus base and top coat, is more shiny and slightly lighter compared to the original. It gives a more polished look on your nails and does last longer. In terms of longevity the original chipped within a day of my manicure whereas the gel lasted 4/5 days without a mark. Personally I think all Nails Inc polishes are a bit steep in terms of their price tags, but the Gel Effect Polishes do live up to their claims and they help my manicure to last longer.
