June you pesky devil how dare you sneak up on me so quickly – next thing you know we will be seeing the Coca-Cola Christmas Advert on TV and X-Factor will be blaring back on our screens again. I remember as a kid being told to wait 10 minutes felt like the longest amount of time in the World, now months go zooming by before my eyes. Anyone got a pause button? I know in my last favourites post I promised a whole new plethora of beauty bits would be making an appearance in May but truth be told I’ve hardly scratched the surface of everything I’ve bought recently. Instead this month I am sharing with you the products that I’ve been reaching for daily to get me through: sun burn, dry hair and oily skin.
Hourglass Ambient Lightening Powder in Dim Light – this is one of those purchases that I deemed unnecessary but since getting I don’t know how lived without it. This just does something to my skin that makes it look flawless, almost like a Photoshop blurred effect has been masked over my face to hide away imperfections. I’ve been reaching for this daily and apply it to primed skin (no base in sight) and it diffuses away any problem areas. This is a makeup bag must and I save my Chanel Les Beiges powder for touch-ups on the go.
Boots Botanics Ultra Calm Skin Relief Serum* – for sensitive, red and sun burnt skin this has been a lifesaver. I popped on this serum night and day to help banish areas of redness and calm down skin after it had been in the sun. Without this I would have looked like a very angry lobster!
Macadamia Repair Masque – I snapped this up on holiday to save my dry hair. Whether it was down to the sun or the pool, I found that my hair was feeling increasing dry and impossible to manage. I have tried a sachet of this before and loved it so when I saw this small bottle I didn’t think twice about getting it. After one use my hair is back to being sleek, soft and manageable.
Urban Decay De-Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray – whether you are needing your makeup to last all day or just want to help remove that slightly ‘overdone’ look that certain powders can give, this is a winner. I’m not sure whether this prevented me from getting oily throughout the day but it certainly helped to keep my makeup in place and prevented any midday slides.
Clarins After Sun Moisturising Self Tanning – thanks to this little bottle my skin was kept nourished whilst a subtle olive tan colour was developed. Without a whiff of fake tan smell in sight this moisturiser helped to keep my skin looking bronzed and hydrated.
Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15 – hello I have become a Fresh addict. If you are in the market for an expensive lip balm that you will kick yourself for buying but once used will want 30 of them, this is the one for you. I’ve never fallen so quickly and so hard for a lip balm, especially one that is this price but once you’ve swept it over your lips you will know how worthwhile it is. This packs an SPF 15 to give your lips sun protection whilst giving injecting hydration. I used about half of the lip balm just being away and am already wondering where I can pick up more.
Phil Smith Argan Oil – this was in my last monthly favourites but has become my must have product when washing my hair. After I have towel dried my hair I pop in about a 50 pence piece of this cream and comb it through. It helps to keep my hair soft and sleek whilst preventing any pesky flyaways.
