When Spring rolls into town (although I am dubious of it’s presence thanks to the rain still making an unwanted appearance) I like to take the time to switch things up a bit. Whether it be a spring clean, wardrobe shake up or even just switching out the beauty products I reach for on a daily basis, a change in the seasons spurs me on to make changes in my life. I like to go through my big box of beauty products and select those items that are best suited to sunshine and sun kissed skin. One of the things I have recently given a spring clean is my daily makeup choices – it might not look that drastically different but there are a few key items that have made a comeback thanks to the warmer weather.
First switch up is my base of choice, thanks to my skin being pathetic I caught a bit of colour (hello red nose) in the sweltering 10 degree heat so have kept my Origins Plantscription Foundation in the mix to provide some coverage. To lighten the foundation up I paired it with the dewy and iluminating offering from Chantecaille in terms of their Just Skin Tinted Moisturiser. This was a beauty splurge last year and although ridiculously expensive it is one of those wonder products that just makes your skin look perfect. I had this applied at a Space.NK counter and as soon as I got home my mum instantly complemented my skin so I rushed back to pick one up. I save this for the warmer seasons and yes, there are more bargain budget dupes, but nothing quite compares to this.
The next switch up are cream blushers. I am not one to rush towards a cream blush as sometimes I struggle to apply them or find they end up moving my foundation around my face. There is however one that has remained in my collection and it is the MAC Cream Colour Base in Virgin Isle. I picked this up a while ago in a collection but since then they have made it a permanent item and I am so glad they did. You need the smallest amount which I apply to the tops of my cheeks and blend out with a Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. It gives such a lovely flush to the cheeks which is perfect for Spring and the colour stays put all day.
The last one is a Spring lip. For this is an oldie but a goodie, the Dior Addict Lipstick in 554 It Pink. Back when it was released it was paired with a Kate Moss advertorial where she was sporting an intense cat eye and bold lip. This supposedly was the colour from the adverts and it gives a punch of colour whilst holding a subtle sheerness on the lips. As opposed to an intense matte bold lip it gives colour, slight gloss and hydration so as not to dry out your lips. A perfect Spring substitute for those summery days.
