Avene Micellar Lotion Cleanser and Makeup Remover – £12.50
It is well documented on my blog that I am on the hunt for the perfect micellar water. My hunt first started in the right place with the Darphin Azahar Cleansing Micellar Water (which is still hands down my favourite) bhanks to the joys of rent, bills and living away from home, my bank balance is unable to accommodate it’s £23 price tag each time I run out. My hunt for a cheaper alternative has been well documented and has taken me through the likes of Nuxe, Caudalie and Vichy but none have quite hit the mark. I have tried the much coveted Bioderma but as the lack of a full review suggests, we did not get along. I was starting to think that there would be no purse friendly alternative to the wonders of Darphin but thanks to makeup extraordinaire Lisa Eldridge – there was light at the end of the tunnel.
Thanks to an Instagram picture that Lisa posted a while back recommending the Avene Micellar Lotion I had one last hope. I remained strong and begrudgingly finished up my Vichy version, but as soon as the end of the bottle was in sight I flew over to Boots with my Boots Points in tow and snapped up bottle. Since first use it has been love. This micellar water has a light fragrance, is suitable for sensitive skin and like all, doesn’t need to be rinsed off the skin. I use this as a pre-cleanser to remove all my makeup (apart from eye makeup which I remove with the Clarins Instant Eye Makeup Remover). This really does work a dream, all my makeup is easily and quickly removed, it doesn’t leave any residue or film on my skin and my skin isn’t left feeling dry or tight after use.
This micellar water is alcohol-free and soap-free and my skin loves it. No breakouts, areas of irritation or redness, just clean skin. I would highly recommend this micellar water and this will be my go to pick unless my purse is feeling rather flush and wishes to treat me to the Darphin one!
