If you are new to my blog or are unaware of my hair history – 2012 was the year that I took the plunge, grabbed the bull by the horns and became a fully fledged blonde. I used to have long brown hair with a few slices of blonde highlights throughout, but after talking about going blonde until I was blue in the face I decided to throw caution to the wind and go for it. Since becoming a blonde I have been paying more attention to hair care and what products I use to help ensure that the colour doesn’t leave any lasting damage. The above picks are my hair heroes that keep my blonde locks looking bright and healthy 1 year on.
The shampoo and conditioner ranges that I have used the most since the colour change are the Headmasters Colour Brilliance Blonde Moisture Range and the Bumble & Bumble Colour Minded Range. Whenever I get my hair coloured, roots topped up or highlights added, I use the Bumble & Bumble range. I find that this does a brilliant job of keeping the colour looking fresh and vibrant and prevents it from fading so quickly. This range gets used up until the point my roots start to show through as I find it can start to make the colour of my roots more vibrant too. Not the most ideal situation when your roots are dark brown! At this stage I switch over to the Headmasters range as these are specifically for blonde hair so focuses more on my tresses as opposed to my roots.
For conditioner I usually stick to the range that I am using at the time, however once a week I do try and incorporate the Ojon Colour Sustain Pro. I haven’t noticed the biggest difference when using this conditioning treatment but it aims to keep colours rich and true for up to 40 washes. Anything that helps to fight the fade is worth a try in my books. Once my hair is all washed and ready to go I pop in some of the Bumble & Bumble Colour Minded UV Protective Styling Balm. This helps me to style my hair whilst protecting the colour. Packed with heat and humidity protection and UV filters all whilst preserving the tones of your colour, this little balm helps my hair to hold a style without damaging the colour.
The last item that I’ve included isn’t really blonde specific, but more something I use to help prevent damage, dryness and frizz. The Macadamia Healing Oil Therapy prevents my tresses from getting dry at the tips. I was finding that my hair was becoming hard to manage and super frizzy, but since popping this on at night and to damp hair, my hair has become more manageable, sleek and smooth.
I am sure there is a lot more that I can do for my coloured hair (and any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!) but these have all worked a treat at helping to keep me away from the brassy blondes and steer me towards the world of beautiful brights.
