I do love me a good bronzer – whether it be to add colour to my face or to contour the sides of my cheeks, I always have an array of bronzers to hand ready to suit my mood and skin-tone. Back in the day I was a lot less conscious of the bronzer I would use and no doubt ended up with a rather muddy looking complexion because of it. Now I am firmly a fan of the more natural matte bronzers that work great to give subtle definition and shape to your face. The above four picks carry me through the seasons and help to warm up my skin without creating the dreaded mud face.
My most longstanding bronzer is the Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel. This is my only cream based bronzer and the one that can come across a tad orange if you are a bit heavy handed when you apply it. This is my go to bronzer in the Summer as I love the finish it gives. The product itself smells amazing and a bit of colour swirled onto your brush and applied to the high-points of your face gives you a soft and natural glow.
My two daily bronzers are Nars Laguna and the Liz Earle Natural Glow Bronzer. I switch between the two depending on what look I am going for and how heavy a contour I am trying to achieve. Liz Earle is the more natural choice out of the two and the shade is a lot more subtle. It gives a slight hint of colour to create shadow and definition without looking orange or muddy on the skin. When I want a bit more of an intense contour or if my skin is a bit more tanned, I opt for Laguna as the colour is darker. Both of these choices are almost completely matte and work great in the hollows of your cheeks or on the high-points of your face.
The bronzer I flit between the most is Benefit Hoola. I have tried Benefit’s other offering Dallas before (which is definitely too dark for me!) but Hoola is the better match for my skintone. I save Hoola more for nights out as the colour payoff can be quite dark. I like to use a smaller brush with Hoola to concentrate the colour more before blending it out. I find this gives a more natural finish whilst still packing a punch in the contour department! This little mini powder is brilliant for travelling and means you can create a more dramatic look on the go.
