This edition (of the newly named) ‘My Makeup’ shows my secret weakness. I am putting on show for the world to see the one aspect that always ignites the fear of god within me. Instead of facing this fear I usually shy away but today I am grabbing fear in the face and embracing it. My fear is the cat eye. There are some people that wear this look religiously every single day and can create the perfect winged liner in their sleep, but I am not one of those people. For me winged liner is an absolute nightmare and my attempts usually result in a black smudged mess across my face. I’ve tried gel, pencils, pens, you name it, I’ve given it a go. All of them cause the same issues, yet, I still lust over the dramatic winged liner. I love the look it creates and so today I am embracing my faults and giving it a go!
For this wingled look I used my trusty MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack and paired it with the MAC 209 Eye Liner Brush. I find this combo the easiest to use and it allows me to build up the wing as much or as little as I want. Before going in with the liner I primed my lid with MAC’s Paint Pot in Bare Study and followed this with a light dusting of MAC’s Eyeshadow in Ricepaper. I kept my base fairly simple and opted for a foundation that I haven’t really mentioned on this blog before – Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. I received this foundation last year from a work friend and never really gave it the time of day since. I would mix it with different foundations to create a lighter based but would forgo picking it as my only option. This recently has changed and I really love it. It is a water based foundation (so needs a good shake before use) and it gives a super soft and flawless finish. I find the coverage to be light/medium which is perfect for me at the moment. This foundation was all the rave last year and now I see why, it has become a firm winner in my books!
The rest of my skin I left pretty natural – the winged liner does all the talking in this one! To complete the look I popped on a rather large helping of the Revlon Lip Butter in 047 Pink Lemonade. I love this shade and think it’s the perfect soft pink colour that complements any makeup look. All in all despite my fear for liquid liner and the cat eye, I do love the finished look. I tend to go a bit top heavy towards the outer corner of my eye but hey, practice makes perfect!
P.S – I am going to be taking a bit of a blogging break over the long Easter Weekend. I don’t often take time away from the blog but have a fun filled weekend away with some friends planned so I am going to spend the time relaxing and taking a break from the old blog. I will be back next Tuesday full of beauty news ready to share with you :) Have a brilliant Easter!!
