Barry M Hi Shine Gel Effect Nail Polish in Greenberry – £3.99
Shock horror a nail post featuring on the blog that isn’t an Essie polish – have I been hit in the head?! Been hit in the head by the bright green lustings of the new Barry M Gelly line! I picked up this slightly neon beauty a while back after a sneaky Boots trip after work. I was in the mood for a new bright polish hoping that Spring would finally make an apperance and this instantly stood out on the shelves. The Barry M Gelly line has received a lot of love on the blogasphere recently for their high shine finishes causing people to bow back down to the alter of Barry M. Before my addiction with Essie became full blown (I blame the release of the diffusion line) Barry M were my go to nail varnishes. For £3.99 and a selection of colours and textures to suit anyone’s needs, it was hard not to love them.
When I picked up Greenberry I was already hooked on the bright turquoise colour but was dubious when it came to formula. My first reservations were unfortunately confirmed when upon opening the polish I was met with a thin split brush. Understandably you do get what you pay for and the extra pounds you shell out on Essie does improve the quality. Even though I had to change my normal slap-hazard approach to apply the varnish I was impressed by the bright and vivid colour that you could achieve with just one coat. The above photo is two coats (and top coat but no base coat as I found too many layers caused the polish to peel away). Now this doesn’t last as long as an Essie polish, or look as neat once applied, but for the price it gives a great punch of colour to your nails that holds up for a pretty decent amount of time.
Have you tried a colour from the Barry M Gelly range? What are your thoughts on them?
