I’m still not 100% sure how I haven’t managed to pick up all of the Real Techniques brushes yet but boy am I getting there! Whenever I am in need of a new brush for a specific function (or am just in the mood to splurge :P) I head straight to the RT section in Boots. I had my eye on getting some new brushes for a while but luckily Father Christmas beat me to the punch and treated me with these new beauties.First up on my list was a new Powder Brush. This was mainly to use with my Laura Mercier Mineral Powder as I was looking for a brush with a big surface area that wasn’t too dense, the pesky powder can end up looking cakey if it has been packed on too heavy! The RT Powder Brush fit the bill and although big, it doesn’t fan out meaning you can still concentrate this brush and the product in a fairly specific area. Although I initially wanted this brush to use with a loose powder I have been using it for some many other things. If you need to dust some bronzer on your neck to even up your skin tone or even just want to buff over all your makeup to ensure that it is all blended in, this is the brush for you. Either concentrating some powder on my t-zone or blending over a bronzer line this has quickly become one of my most multifunctional brushes.
The second brush is the Shading Brush. I added this on a bit of a whim and wasn’t sure whether I would use this to blend in my concealer or specifically as an eye brush. I find this slightly too small and dense to blend in my concealer (the Domed Shadow Brush does a much better job of that!) and instead it has become the perfect tear duct brush. I like popping an inner corner highlight to my tear duct area to open up my eyes and help me look more awake in the mornings. Whether it is with my Pixi Glow Fairy Dust (full review here) or an offering from the Naked Palette this brush does the perfect job of applying the colour and blending it out so it doesn’t look harsh. Might seem excessive but when you have under eye circles like me this is a must have brush!
