Aveda Petal Essence Single Eye Colour – £11.50*
Aveda are a brand that I’ve only ever known for hair care. My mum has been an avid user of their hair care products for a number of years but they have never really been a brand I have interacted with or used myself. However, when they recently launched their AW12 Passion Flower Make-Up Collection my ears pricked up and my love for cosmetics wanted to give everything a try. This is a limited edition collection so pieces will be snapped up quickly but that is unsurprising considering the collection contains some lovely petal inspired tones for both your eyes and lips. Sitting in the middle mark of the price point for higher end products, this range is not the cheapest on the market, but the products have great pigmentation and are beautifully soft which helps to warrant the price. My only bug point with the collection is the packaging and the lipsticks for example come off quite cheap looking which is never ideal when paying £12.50 for them!
Out of the collection the Nourish-Mint Smoothing Lip Colours were the items I wanted to try most. I am a big fan of mint flavoured lip products as they makes my lips feel refreshed after application. These lipsticks contain plant and fruit waxes to help smooth your lips whilst hydrating them and giving them a bit of plumping! I went for an everyday light pink colour with Oyster Pink and a deeper Autumnal colour with Wild Plum. I love Wild Plum and it is the perfect colour for these cooler seasons. It is a rich, deep colour that doesn’t overpower the lips making it too dramatic. I have been wearing this everyday, even for work and it works perfectly! Oyster Pink is more of a frost everyday pink that leaves a slight sheen on the lips.
The other two products in the rage are the Nourish-Mint Rehydrating Lip Glaze and the Petal essence Single Eye Colour. Similarly to the lipsticks this lipgloss is mint flavoured and leaves your lips feeling refreshed and slightly plumper after using. This lipgloss in Pearl Rose is a deeper pink colour with soft specks of glitter which catches the light whilst adding a lovely wash of colour to your lips. The eye shadow is a really soft consistency and the colour is super pigmented on the eye. Although in the pan the shadow looks to be quite rough it is actually very soft and glides onto your lids. This is a crease-resistant colour which make is it perfect to wear for work and the colour Spark colour is a great neutral soft pink.
Overall I am pretty impressed with this collection and what Aveda has to offer in terms of cosmetics! Have you tried out anything else from the range?
