The other week a very exciting package arrived through my front door that contained the above stunning beauties from the new Nude collection by Dior aptly called Dior Skin Nude. Dior is one of those brands that just makes me squeal. It is so luxurious and the packaging and products just ooze decadence it’s hard not to be impressed by anything they make. Sometimes though, with these kinds of brands you have to be careful. Even though the brand and price point can be high, the contents behind the stunning cases might not always live up to the hype so it’s good to look past the beauty and see what’s on the inside.The first thing that caught my eye is the Rouge Dior Nude Lipstick in 418 Ingenue* which is housed in a posh looking blue outer case with graphic lines indented throughout. Sitting at £25 it isn’t a cheap option but boy does it look classy! Just looking at the lipstick it appears to be a darkish looking nude that I feared would be too dark for me or too similar to MAC’s Blankety which I ended up selling in a blog sale. However upon first swatch I was shown how wrong I was! As you can see in the below picture the colour payoff is a lightish nude with almost a pinky/coral undertone. This prevents any concealer lips look and adds a really lovely soft and subtle warmth to the lips. I have been wearing this every day to work and although yes it isn’t sitting there at the end of the day it does a great job at moisturising my lips and providing a great hint of colour whilst still being nude.
Next up I tried the Dior Vernish Nude Nail Polish in 715 Dune* which is perfect for the upcoming autumn/winter seasons. A popular brown, mud colour that is a hit every season Dior’s offering provides another great option. Again not sitting cheap at £18.00 I was however impressed with how long this nail varnish lasted as I expected it to be similar to the Chanel nail varnishes and disappear within a couple of days. This stuck around a little bit longer but be prepared to use a good base coat and top coat for anything longer. Slightly darker and muddier then it’s cousins (Chanel Particular and Barry M Mushroom I’m looking at you!) however I really like the slight darkness to this colour. Not one that I would necessarily reach for everyday but definitely a great one to add to the collection if you are in a treat mood!
The Dior Skin Nude collection was available to buy exclusively in all Selfridges stores and online as of the 31st August.
