I think my skin has found a new best friend. Recently my skin has turned into an angry teenager that likes to have daily temper tantrums. To try and revert it back to it’s once calm state I have been researching and trying out some new skin care bits in the hope to calm it down. I initially stripped my skincare routine back to the basics (aka Liz Earle products) but even that wasn’t doing the trick. To do some research I headed over to Caroline’s blog Beauty Mouth as she knows her skin care!
Caroline has written some cheat sheets about the main skin care issues people have been having based on her weekly clinic. The one that caught my eye was ‘Dry or Dehydrated‘. I never think about my skin being dry as I have combination skin but after a recent skin consultation at the Sanctuary spa I was told my skin was dehydrated. What really stood out to me about what Caroline said is that dehydrated skin can cause makeup to go patchy as your skin is absorbing any water in your foundation. My makeup has recently been going patchy but I blamed this on a poor primer as opposed to my dehydrated skin. Caroline recommended the Origins Drink Up Intensive Mask (which is also a favourite of Lily’s from What I Heart Today).
I picked up the mask from a local Origins counter for £20. That might seem a little pricy but you only need to use this mask twice a week or as desired so this bottle should last you a while. The first thing that hit me with this mask is the smell. It smells divine! It a really fruity, fresh fragrance that had me running to my mum saying ‘smell my face!’
The mask has quite a thick consistency and as you apply it you instantly feel the moisture and nourishment it is adding to your skin. This mask contains Japanese Seaweed that repairs the skins barrier to prevent future dehydration. I apply this liberally to the skin before I go to bed and let it soak in for about an hour first so I don’t stick to my pillow! After the first time of using this I awoke this next morning and I swear my skin was smiling! It looked brighter, happier and the angry teenager was starting to disappear. My skin seems to love this stuff and I do to!
